Matthew was born a healthy baby in 1985. As
the middle child between two girls he was often spoilt by his
sisters. He grew up into a school boy who was interested in watching
videos especially WWF wrestling, playing football and playing
playstation games. He joined the cubs and later the scouts and
enjoyed going away with them to camp.
As a family we had great holidays, in England at first and then
later, by the time Matthew was in his mid teens, visiting various
places in Europe. Matthew and I toured football grounds, including
New Camp (Barcelona) Old Trafford (Manchester) and Wembley (London).
Matthew started to drink alcohol in his later teens mostly at
weekends and like many fathers I was worried he would drink too
much. He settled well into a job and started getting interested
in Rugby which if things had been different I think he would still
be playing today.
Matthew and myself started planning a holiday together in May
2005, a father and son thing but it never took place due to the
tragic events of 1st January 2005 which resulted in my son’s
death.
